Erasmus Charter for Higher Education

Following the successful application of the University of Sarajevo for the new Erasmus+ programme period, the European Commission has awarded the University of Sarajevo the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021–2027 (ECHE).

This Charter represents the fundamental quality framework for all European and international cooperation activities that the University may carry out within the Erasmus+ programme. It confirms UNSA’s commitment to the principles and values of the programme, including equal access, transparency, academic integrity, quality in the organisation of mobility, as well as the promotion of inclusion and sustainability.

The award of the ECHE is a prerequisite for the participation of any higher education institution in the Erasmus+ programme. With it, the University of Sarajevo is eligible to actively engage in all three Key Actions of the programme:

  • Learning Mobility of Individuals – enabling students, academic, and administrative staff to study, train, teach, or gain experience abroad in partner institutions across Europe and beyond;
  • Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices – participation in joint projects aimed at developing innovative approaches in teaching, research, and management;
  • Support for Policy Reform – contributing to the modernisation and internationalisation of higher education systems through dialogue with European institutions and partners.

In this way, the University of Sarajevo continues its tradition of active participation in the Erasmus+ programme, reaffirming its role as a leader in the internationalisation of higher education in Bosnia and Herzegovina and strengthening its position within the European Education and Research Area.
