The exhibition plus is a joint project of the International Relations Office of the University of Sarajevo and the Western Balkan Alumni Association (WBAA) in order to organize an exhibition of photographs of students and staff from the University of Sarajevo and other higher education institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina that participated in Erasmus + exchange.
The exhibition is a project written, applied and implemented by Adnan Rahimić, MSc, senior expert for international relations at the University of Sarajevo. As a European Commission scholarship recipient and participant in Erasmus + mobility, his own experience has helped to create an innovative presentation and promotion of this program. The idea was translated into a project that was submitted to an open call for grants by the Western Balkan Alumni Association (WBAA).
The goal was to combine art and the Erasmus + program, and 38 photographs were collected by students and staff from BiH. Each photo presented a story from the mobility, their motivation to apply and the results they achieved. Thanks to the grant, the photographs were prepared in larger dimensions, printed and framed, and then transferred to the premises (exhibition gallery) of the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Sarajevo where a reception of foreign guests was organized at the International Staff Training Week (organized by the International Relations office) and were given the opportunity to see mobility exhibitions from European universities (for some of the guests they were home universities).
The exhibition received positive reviews, and was recognized by the European Commission, so the author of the project was invited to Brussels to present his project – the exhibition, for which he was awarded in the category of “positive achievements in the Western Balkans” with the exhibition qualifications such as: inspiring, creative abroad, embracing the true essence, innovative, etc.
Photographs purpose-printed for presentation in Brussels remained to adorn the premises of the European Commission, while the originals were placed in the premises of the Rectorate of the University of Sarajevo as a permanent exhibition.
The project would not have been successful without the openness and support provided by students and staff of the University of Sarajevo, the University of East Sarajevo, Džemal Bijedić University in Mostar, the University of Tuzla and the University of Bihać who sent their best mobility photos, vice dean’s support from the Academy of Fine Arts prof. Srđa Hrisafović and coordinator Nadja Softić who gave the most beautiful space for the exhibition in one of the monumental buildings of Sarajevo, as well as the indispensable support during the entire implementation of the project by the Vice Rector for International Cooperation of the University of Sarajevo prof. dr. Aleksandra Nikolić (2016-2020) and the head of the International Relations Office, dr. sci. Jasna Bosnjović.
